In recent weeks, various pieces of information disseminated on social media and some digital media outlets have generated confusion regarding the actual operation of connected V16 beacons.
In light of this situation, Ryme Automotive, a company specializing in spare parts for industrial vehicles and safety lighting, clarifies the main technical and regulatory aspects related to its Hero Driver LED beacon, a device that is certified and includes NB-IoT connectivity until 2040.
Anonymity and data protection
The Hero Driver LED beacon is completely anonymous. Under no circumstances is it linked to the vehicle's license plate, the driver, or the purchasing company.
Data is not shared with third parties or external platforms. Only the strictly necessary information is transmitted, in an encrypted manner, to the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) when a real activation of the device occurs.
Maps of active beacons
Representations that have appeared on some websites or social media showing supposed active beacons are not official and are not related to the operation of the Hero Driver LED.
The only valid and official map is managed by the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT), accessible through its traffic information platform:
https://etraffic.dgt.es/etrafficWEB/
The Hero Driver LED does not generate public maps, does not allow the identification of vehicles or people, and maintains its commitment to confidentiality at all times.
Does the ITV (vehicle inspection) review the connected V16 beacon?
No, as of today. Currently, the ITV does not inspect the connected V16 beacon, as it is not part of the elements subject to verification in periodic vehicle inspections.
There is talk in the sector of a possible future inclusion as a control element, but there is no official confirmation. Until the competent bodies issue a formal communication, the V16 beacon is not subject to inspection at the ITV.
Safety for people with pacemakers
The Hero Driver LED beacon does not use neodymium magnets.
The recommendations for use are the usual ones for any product with a magnetic system: maintain a minimum distance of 15 cm during handling. There is no specific additional risk compared to other commonly used magnetic devices.
Location transmission
The beacon does not transmit its location continuously.
The Hero Driver LED only transmits its location and the warning to the DGT when activated, and after an approximate interval of 100 seconds, in accordance with current regulations. There is no permanent data emission.
Is it necessary to register the vehicle or the buyer?
No. The Hero Driver LED does not require prior registration of the vehicle, driver, or purchasing company at the time of acquisition, reinforcing its professional and anonymous nature.
Water resistance and use in rain
In response to information questioning its use in adverse weather conditions, Ryme Automotive clarifies that the Hero Driver LED is certified by an accredited laboratory with an IP54 protection rating.
This certification guarantees protection against water splashes from any direction, making the beacon suitable for use in rainy conditions, one of the usual scenarios in road emergency situations.
Claims that the beacon does not withstand rain are incorrect.
A safety product, not an accessory
The connected V16 beacon is a road safety element, designed to function reliably in real emergency situations.
Therefore, Ryme Automotive recommends trusting manufacturers and distributors specialized in the automotive sector, with experience, track record, and proven technical knowledge, and to be wary of products from non-specialized companies.
Ryme Automotive reaffirms its commitment to information transparency, road safety, and strict compliance with current regulations, making all necessary technical information available to professionals.
